The Maitland is a demanding river to fly fish with a unique set of challenges. Because of its sheer size, locating fish and presenting the fly can be quite difficult. Having Mike as a guide is an invaluable resource as he has extensive knowledge of the river, locations where fish are holding and also the flies and techniques necessary to be successful.
I had a GREAT day - 5 steelhead hooked, 2 landed. I will truely remember this day for a long time.

“When I booked my first float trip with Mike, my only wish for that trip was to land my first steelhead and give my friend Jeanette a chance to get out on the river with her fly rod and a day she would remember.  Mike delivered!  Not only did he deliver but the float trip was breathtaking.  The water was gin clear and you feel like you’re flying.  I had no idea that the Maitland was so beautiful.   Every year it’s getting harder and harder to find an undisturbed quiet place to cast a fly line.  Mike offers just that.  What impressed me the most was how hard Mike worked to bring us a day we wouldn’t forget.  Drift fishing was a first for me.  Mike was very helpful in teaching me the things I needed to know.  His knowledge of the local rivers is incredible.  I thoroughly enjoy every chance I get to fish with him.  I can’t wait until May and our next float trip.”
